This month Pugpalooza reviewed PetSafe’s gravity-based Healthy Pet Food Station

The website shows the color as black and white, but the one I received in the mail is a grayish color.  The station (both the food and water bowls) are made of a hard plastic. The dimensions are 14 x 11 x 7 inches. The stations are not heavy – approximately 1.55 lbs.

Petsafe claims the Healthy Pet Food Station) lets your pet eat food whenever they’re hungry because of the gravity of the feeder. They also maintain the food stations are easy to clean and come with a stainless steel bowl.

The Food stations were fully assembled when I received them. I simply took them out of the box and could use them immediately. There is a cap for the water station and once the water is put in the station, the station will not leak water until it is secured in the base of the water station. Once the station is placed on the base, the water flows out slowly.

For the food station, you just fill it, then the food flows out as the dog eats it.

I have used this product for a month. My pug Penelope has never been much of a water drinker. I was giving her water in a small bowl before I received this food station. She would drink maybe once a day. After getting this product in the mail, I immediately filled the water station with a little bit of water. (I didn’t fill it because I like to change her water often.) Penelope was very interested. She immediately sniffed it, then took a drink of water. I watched her closely. She seemed to like that the water bowl was larger than the one she previously used.

The PetSafe Healthy Pet Food Station costs $24.95. This includes two feeding stations (one for food, the other for water).

Now that Penelope has had a chance to use this water station for a month, I will say that she is drinking more water. She gets a drink now several times a day and drinks more per time.

I used the food station only a few times during this month. I don’t normally leave food out for Penelope when I’m at work, but I did a couple of times just to see if she would eat while I was away. She did not. She is used to being fed twice a day, so I think that’s probably why. The food station would be great if you had puppies to feed or if you had several dogs.

The website claims there is a stainless steel bowl that comes with this. I did not receive one. The food station I got is made of plastic. I have heard pug owners say that you should not let pugs drink out of plastic dishes because it gives them pimples. I have not had that problem with Penelope.

As a dog owner, I will continue to use this food station for Penelope. I like the size of it and I like that I can fill it halfway up with water so I don’t have to worry about her running out.

Bottom Line: Positive. I give this food station a positive review, but would’ve liked the stainless steel bowl to be included. This product does what it claims and is a cost-effective solution to keeping food in front of your dog.
