Do you like surprises? I do… I love surprises!! They delight me and I look forward to them.

Our pugs feel the same way. They love it when we surprise them… and it’s sooo much fun because of the way they react to our surprises.

Here are some times I surprised my pug… and how she reacted:

**Today, I had to be at the college almost all day. I woke Molly up early, took her potty, fed her breakfast and a treat and headed out the door. I looked at my Furbo on the way to my class to see what she was doing. She was sitting near the Furbo with her head down. I felt terrible. I turned the Furbo on and started talking to her. She responded by wagging her tail and barking for a treat. I activated the Furbo and threw her a couple of treats… but I still felt bad. I knew she would be home for several hours by herself because today is my long day at school. I decided I would surprise her this afternoon when I got home. Molly slept on her blanket the rest of the time I was away and when I got home, I ask her if she wanted to go to PetsMart.  She immediately jumped off the couch and was ready to go. PetsMart is one of Molly’s favorite places to go and she knows where it is. She was soooo excited!!! We went for a walk at the park first, then I took her to PetsMart. I let her walk down every isle and smell everything and she absolutely loved it. The worker’s at PetsMart all know her by name and they all stop and pet her. She gets free treats while she is there and of course, we buy a bag of treats, or a toy, or an outfit or something for her to take home with her. This made her day… and mine too. I love to surprise her and she is so appreciative. I even got a kiss on the way home… and I knew it was Molly’s way of saying “thanks, mom!”  Here’s some photos of her at the store:

**Another way I surprise Molly is by giving her a birthday party every year. On her sixth birthday, I surprised Molly with a birthday cake and I lifted her up and showed it to her. Look at her mouth. She made a surprised sound with her mouth and her mouth looks like she is saying, “Oh…!!” Isn’t this cute??Molly loves her presents too. She opens them herself and loves doing it!!

** Another way I surprise and delight my pug is by taking her places. I take her to the store with me, I take her on trips… anywhere I go that I can take her… I do. Pugs are social animals. They love interaction. They love people, they loved to be talked too and petted- they love any type of attention. Molly is always the center of attention while I shop.

** Another way I surprise my pug is by stopping and showing her things she hasn’t seen before. It delights her. On this day, we were leaving the park and someone had a kite they were just beginning to fly. I saw it from a distance and decided I would take Molly to see it. Once I stopped and she spotted it, she couldn’t take her eyes off of it. It fascinated her!! Now, she knows what a  kite is… but still loves to watch them fly.

Until next time,

Hugs and Pug Kisses,

Candy
