When I think of owning a dog, I can’t get past owning a pug. I think once a person owns a pug, you just automatically become a “pug person.” There is just something about this breed… I’ve owned lots of different breeds in my lifetime, but the breed I’ve really become attached to are my pugs. Here are 10 reasons WHY I own pugs:

** My pug is always glad to see me. Her tail wags excessively and she “dances” all over the place when I get home. Then, I usually get lots of kisses. She makes me feel loved!!

** She’s always ready to cuddle with me… whether it’s at night or just when I’m sitting on the couch. She’s always by my side. She’s comforting.

** She’s interested in whatever I am doing. I read to Molly every morning and talk to her constantly. She lays beside me and listens intently. She wants to help when I bake cookies or when I’m unpacking groceries. When I go shopping, she wants to go.

** I can dress Molly up and she let’s me. From the time we got her, I’ve always dressed her… and she loves it. Sometimes, I let her pick out her own clothes. I’ll hold up two different outfits or bandanas and she chooses which one she wants to wear. Pugs look so cute dressed up and their temperament allows this.

** Pugs are becoming more and more popular, so you can literally find all kinds of clothes, household items, etc… with pugs on them. It’s so much fun to decorate my house with pug items. It lets people know how much I adore this breed.

** They are easy dogs to keep. They don’t take up much space, they don’t bark a lot (at least Molly doesn’t), and they are content to be wherever you are. Molly has a princess bed, and two additional beds in my living room so it’s pretty much her room. She loves to lay on one of her pillows and look out the window.

** You can’t punish a pug, or at least I can’t. They have these big, sad eyes that look at you when they’ve done something wrong… and you just melt.  They try so hard to please their owners that it’s tough to discipline them. I really don’t think about disciplining Molly because I never have too. She understands what I expect from her… and she does it. She’s never gotten into the trash or gotten into something that makes a mess… she’s very well-behaved.

** I always have an eating partner… LOL!! If you get a pug, you’ll never eat alone again. They love to eat and are always sitting at your feet when you have food. Do I give her bites?? Of course!! Who can resist that cute little face?? But… I am picky about WHAT I give her. They gain weight easily so that’s always a concern.

** My pug is always happy… and it makes my days better. Even if I’ve had a really rough day at work, I come home to this little bouncy happy girl… and my day gets better. If I cry, she’s immediately by my side… she knows something is wrong. A pug will look you right in the eyes and they understand… I believe that wholeheartedly!!

** Molly will let me photograph her. I’m a photographer and I have this blog so I take lots of photos. I’ve always done photos of Molly… and she loves it. When I say, “Come on, Molls… let’s go take some pictures, she beats me into the room with the backdrop. She’ll pose as long as I want her too. When I’m outside, I can sit her down, take her harness off and walk away from her 30 feet… and she won’t move. She makes taking photos of her easy.

These are just a few of the reasons I own a pug… there are lots more, but I wanted to share these with you tonight!! There are lots of wonderful breeds of dogs out there, but this pug momma is stuck… I adore my pugs!!!

Until next time,

Hugs and Pug Kisses,

Candy
