My Story and My Purpose- What I’ve Learned from my Pugs

I had a pug when I was little. Her name was Taffy. I don’t remember a lot about her, but my mom says I carried her around upside down, put her in my doll stroller, etc… I see photos of her and I when I look at old photos of me. Then years later, after I was married and had my first son, my husband and I bought a male pug. We named him Charlie. Charlie was so much fun, so full of life. My son loved playing with him. One evening, we let him out in the back yard to potty (we had a fence around it) and that was the last time we ever saw him. Someone took him. After that, I swore I would never get another pug. Too much heartbreak. Years later again,  when my youngest son, Jake, was in college (we both were… I went back to college), he decided we needed a dog and guess what he wanted. A pug, of course. We had visited my brother and sister-in-law and they had a female pug named Lexi. Rod and Dy called her Sexy Lexi.  Lexi was full of life and fun  and we both fell in love with her. After spending time with Lexi, I was convinced.

Rod and Dy’s pug, Sexy Lexi!!

We looked and looked and finally found a breeder. When we first met “Molly,” the lady handed her to me and she kissed me as I walked into the ladies living room… about 100 times. That’s all it took. We were both in love. Since that day, I have never regretted getting another pug.

Jacob and Molly

I don’t know what to say about Molly, except she is the sweetest, most lovable dog I’ve ever owned. She has so much love to give… and she gives it unconditionally to me everyday. I learn things everyday from her. I’ve learned how to forgive, how to love unconditionally like she does, I’ve learn that I can laugh even when I’m sad, I’ve learned what it feels like to be comforted (by a dog), I’ve learned it’s the simple things in life that really make you happy, and I’ve learned that our pugs totally depend on us… for everything. There’s more, but I’ll stop there. You get the picture. When Molly was three, we bought another pug- a pug for companionship for Molly. Her name is Dolly. Now… I get twice the love and all the other benefits.

My girls have given me so much that I want to share them with you… in this blog. I thought I knew a lot about pugs, but I learn something new everyday. I want to share my experiences and my knowledge and my laughter and even my tears with you… and I want you to share yours with me. I love dogs, any kind of dogs, but pugs are something very special. They listen, they understand (or at least we think they do when they tilt their heads), they make us laugh and add a special kind of joy to our lives.

I for one, am very lucky to have found my girls, Molly and Dolly. I know they won’t be around forever, but my solemn vow to them everyday is to make their lives as fun and comfortable as I possibly can… and i will fulfill that promise. The day I lose one or both of them will be heartbreaking, but yet, I will know that I did everything in my power to make life as happy as I could for them.

Please join me in this endeavor as I share my experiences and my knowledge with you and, at the same time, learn from you too. My goal with this blog is to make a lot of new friends and be able to share a lot of pug love.

Until next time,

Love and pug kisses,

Candy
