Did you know? Pet parents spend millions of dollars on gifts for their pets.

Millions spent on pets on Valentines’ Day

Do you spoil your pet with a gift on Valentine’s Day? According to recent statistics, approximately 27.6 million American households bought their dog(s) a Valentine’s Day present last year, and more than 17.1 million picked up gifts for their cats. WOW!! All in all, American households spent an estimated $751.3 million on gifts for their pets on Valentine’s Day.

Crazy, huh?

People are spending 1.7 billion dollars on their pets this Valentine’s Day.

According to market watch.com, one in four people buy valentine’s gifts for their pets and almost half of those people admit they cuddle with their dog more than their partner. This number is up 17 percent from what pet owners spent in 2020.

According to Katherine Cullen, the NRF director of industry and consumer insights, people are buying not only for their spouse and children, but also for their pets.

Pets are taking priority

The NRF says that more than one in four people (27 percent) will buy a valentine gift for their pet(s) this year. And Rover.com noted that 47 percent of pet parents planned a valentine day celebration for their pets last year- they bought their pet a new outfit or made them a special treat to eat.

Our pets are definitely getting in on Valentine’s Day spending.

Valentine’s Day is about love and I can’t think of anything sweeter or more pure than the love of a pug (dog).

Dogs figure out ways to tell us they love us… and they don’t even have to send an e-mail or a card to do it. They love us by cuddling with us and by gazing into our eyes. As dog parents, we know the signs…

Dogs know that we love them too. They sense our emotions and watch our body language. That’s why eye contact and touch are so important with our dogs.

This Valentine’s Day:

  • 25 percent of people will take their dog on a date
  • 62 percent will purchase a dog Valentine gift
  • 1 in 3 people say they will spend the same amount of money on their dog as on their partner.

Did you buy your dog a valentine gift this year? If so, what was it?

Until next time,

Hugs and Pug Kisses,

Candy
