How did you pick your dog’s name?
Was it from a movie you watched? Or from a favorite movie star?
Does the name have some sentimental meaning to you?
I think most of us want the name of our dog to match the dog’s personality. When I bought my last two pugs, they already had names. I had names picked out for them before I picked them up, but the names their breeders gave them just fit.
Dog names are important to most people. Dogs become an important part of our families.
The video consultation platform FirstVet did some research on popular pet names from the last 100 years. Here’s what they found:
Princess has been the TOP name for pets (dogs and cats both) for the last 115 years. WOW!!
Other top names are: Duke, King, Lady and Queenie.
They found that people OFTEN name their pets from popular movies that they have watched. When the movie Mad Max was released in 1979, the name Max became a popular dog name. When the movie Smokey Robinson was released in the 1980’s, the name Smokey was a favorite.
