This gorgeous pug, with a cat named Pepe for a playmate is a cherished companion of Luis Cardenas (LuCa) from Orlando, Florida.

LuCa said King was a present from his uncle. Now, at 15 years old, he makes LuCa laugh because he falls asleep on random things. LuCa said King sleeps a lot now. King sleeps in bed with his dad and he says he snores sometimes and can be a bit of a bed hog. According to LuCa, King does like to travel. He has taken him to Atlanta to meet a friend and his friend’s pug, Mia. They have also been to visit LuCa’s mom in Connecticut and they have traveled up King’s Mountain in North Carolina.

No Professional Photos, but very photogenic!!

King has never had professional photos taken, but LuCa said he does like to have his picture taken. As you can see, he’s very photogenic.

LuCa said he put King in a kennel a couple of times when he first got him, but felt bad about him being in the kennel so he used a baby gate that confined him to the kitchen for a while. He does have free reign of the house now.

Loves People and Understands when talked too.

King loves people and gets along with other dogs well. LuCa said that King rarely barks anymore, but if he does bark, it’s because someone moved too fast near him. LuCa talks to King and he believe that he understands what he says because he tilts his head and reacts positively to what he says.

LuCa and King walk twice a day and King’s playmate, Pepe the cat, keeps him company while LuCa is at work. LuCa is not sure whether King likes to swim or not because he’s never had him swimming.

Diagnosed with Geriatric Vestibular Disease, but Doing Well!!

King eats Kibbles and bits twice a day and LuCa said he weighs 28 pounds, but carries the weight well. King eats Denta sticks periodically to keep his teeth clean and beggin’ strips are his favorite treat. LuCa said that King wears a harness and it’s the same harness he had when he got him.

This last Thanksgiving, King had to be taken to the emergency vet because LuCa said he was not acting right. He was diagnosed with Geriatric Vestibular disease. The vet told him if he acts that way again, to put him in a cool, dark room for a while until he settles down. LuCa said he has only had to deal with it a couple of other times and they episodes were not as bad as the first time.

LuCa’s Advice for people wanting a pug:

“Be very patient with them,” said LuCa.

Why did he choose a pug? LuCa said that pugs are so lovable and he believe fate brought him and King together.

A huge “thank you” to LuCa and his beloved pug, “King” for letting us feature you on our blog. If you are interested in us featuring you and your pug in the future, please send me (Candy Johansen) a message on messenger or email me at: www.candysphotos@gmail.com.
