Hi Everyone!!

My pug, Molly, loves ice cream; however, it doesn’t love her. It tends to raise her blood sugar and makes her restless for a bit. So… lately, we have quit giving her ice cream.

A couple of days ago, I seen a video on social media about dog ice cream that has all natural ingredients. I was immediately interested… I watched the video and am going to try these flavors of “dog ice cream” on Molly… and I thought I would share them with you.

Strawberry/Banana Dog Ice Cream:

1 cup of strawberries, mashed really well (strawberries are good for your dog’s teeth- they help keep them white).

1 banana, mashed real well.

I cup of yogurt (buy yogurt that has no sweetners, no vanilla and no flavors. Yogurt with active cultures are good for your dog).

Mix all of these ingredients together, put in small containers and freeze.

The ice cream will freeze in about 4 hours and will last up to 8 weeks.

Oatmeal and cinnmamon Dog Ice Cream.

1 banana, mashed well.

1 cup of cooked oatmeal.

1/4 tsp. Ground Cinnamon (good for dogs with arthritis).

1 cup yogurt (no sweetners, no vanilla and no flavor, but with active cultures).

Mix all ingredients well. Put in containers and freeze.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Dog Ice Cream

1 banana, mashed well.

1 cup unsalted, smooth peanut butter

1 cup yogurt (no sweetners, no vanilla and no flavor, but with active cultures).

Mix these 3 ingredients well.

For the “jelly,” mash 1/2 cup of strawberries. Pour the strawberry mixture on top of the other ingredients that you previously mixed and stir just lightly to make a ripple effect.

Put in containers and freeze.

As with any treats, moderation is the key. Giving your dog just a little “dog ice cream” at a time is best.

I hope your pugs like it!! I’ll keep you posted on Molly’s progress with the ice cream.

Until next time,

Hugs and Pug Kisses,

Candy
