I feel so blessed to own a pug. My pugs name is Miss Molly Mia. She is currently six years old. When my son and I bought her, she was eight weeks old and weighed four pounds. She now weighs a little over twenty pounds and is spoiled rotten.

Do I love to spoil my pug? Absolutely, I do. Pugs are the best companions, but they are also little clowns. They love attention (any kind of attention), so it’s so much fun to spoil them.

Here are some of my favorite ways that I spoil Molly:

  • I give her belly scratches every morning. She loves her belly scratches and she almost refuses to get up unless I give her one. If I go to lift her out of bed, she will just quickly roll to her back. I have learned not to get up quickly, at least until Molly has had her belly scratch. LOL!

  • I give her hot meals morning and night. Molly gets hot meals twice a day with a variety of vegetables and boiled chicken mixed in with her dog food.  If I give her a cold meal now, she won’t eat it. She expects a hot meal because she has gotten used to them.
  •  I had a wooden princess bed made for her. I told my step-dad what I wanted and he made her a wooden dog bed. I painted the bed shades of pink and decorated it for her. This bed has a pug painted on it, it has Molly’s name (Dolly’s too, but I lost Dolly in January), and it has a small vanity space underneath the bed with a mirror. I bought the softest mattress I could find and I covered it with the softest material available. Molly loves her bed. Molly’s a princess so I thought she deserved a princess bed!

  • I take Molly for a walk everyday. Molly and I walk everyday, without fail. The only time we miss is when the weather is dangerous (like a lightning storm). We usually walk at least a mile a day. This is good for Molly and she loves and looks forward to her walks.
  • I take Molly to the stores with me when I shop. Molly loves this and I enjoy it too. She gets to interact with people while I shop and it’s fun for me to see her so happy. We go to Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Menards, Petco and PetsMart, among others.
  •  I take Molly to Petco and PetsMart often. Molly knows the name of these places and she gets very excited when I tell her we are going. I let her pick out a toy sometimes and she helps me pick out treats. She loves to walk around the store and smell everything and interact with the people who work there. They all know her by name now.
  • I photography Molly often. My degree is in photography so Molly grew up getting lots and lots of photos taken. She got so good at posing that I ended up writing a book series starring her. This book series is the “Molly and Me” series. I will soon be starting on a second series with her.  Molly loves to be photographed. When I tell her we are going to take photos, she hightails it into the room where my backdrops are set up. She’s ready before I am. I can even take her outside, sit her down, back up 30 feet to photograph her and she won’t move. She’ll sit there until I tell her we are done.

  • I dress her up… for everything. Molly loves to be dressed up. I tell her she looks pretty and she’s so proud of that. She has more clothes than I do and she wears them everywhere. People comment on her clothes a lot. Sometimes, when we are going for a walk or to a store, I will give her a choice on what to wear. I’ll hold two items, one in each hand, then I’ll ask Molly which one she wants to wear. She will look and smell both of them, then she’ll tell me which outfit or bandana she wants to wear by nudging one of the items with her nose. It’s so cute!!

  • I place dog beds in several areas so she always has a soft place to lay. Besides her big pink princess bed, Molly has several other dog beds around the house. They each have a soft blanket on them so she always has a soft place to lay. She has one bed by the window so she can lay and look outside. That one is her favorite.
  • I celebrate holidays with her, including her birthday. We have parties, we decorate and we bake (Molly loves to help me make cookies). She gets excited when we do these things. I let her be a part of it and let her help me decide what decorations to put up. I take her to see pretty decorations, like Christmas trees at Christmas time.

I take Molly with me whenever possible- Molly goes Kayaking with me, we go for car rides, she goes on vacation with me, we go bicycling. I take her 90% of the time, whenever I can. She loves to go and I love it when she’s with me.

I’ll stop here. I could probably tell you at least a dozen more ways that I spoil Molly, but you get it. Pugs, like any other breed of dog, deserve to be spoiled. So spoil them. You will get love back from them tenfold. I promise!!  How do you spoil your pug(s)??

Until next time,

Love and Pug Kisses,

Candy
